Great meal and atmosphere. We had the duck and pork with vegetables of the day. Wow and then dessert oh yea. Would recommend and our waiter Matt added to enjoyment.
We visited Nashville this weekend for a wedding, so our local friend took us here as it's a staple to the area. The service was quick, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was great! We tried a surplus of things on the menu, including the alligator meatballs that were phenomenal. They change their menu daily, so it was quite the unique experience. Not pictured was an Old Fashioned cocktail from the bar. That was a complete let down which is unfortunate because I feel like that should be alongside a Cosmo or Lemon Drop in popularity. Nonetheless, the waitress was kind enough to remove it from the tab and offered another drink to replace this. Overall, I would probably visit again on my next stop to Nashville.
In a historic building, husk did not disappoint. Really enjoyed my first try of tartare! Plate of southern vegetables was filling and distinctive. I would skip biscuits (not pictured) as they were small and heavy. Flies were an issue in the patio area so would suggest eating indoors (hence the 4 stars). Thanks Husk!
I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was great. The food was even better. We tried almost evyebtint on the menu as a group and it did not disappoint. My favorites were the duck, beef tartare, Meatballs, and the pig ears.
Wonderful ambiance in a beautiful historic home and a garden of herbs outside that we enjoyed looking at and eating! Book a reservation to this innovative eatery and treat yourself to some fun dishes--we came with an adventurous group and were lucky to try many starters and entrees. Favorites were the pig ear lettuce wraps, beef tartare, and the steak entree. Black sesame dessert was wonderfully not sweet (some saltiness was fun!) and paired excellently with the high garden tea. A must try when you're in the area!
Food was delicious but service was slower than expected, though it appeared people around us didn't experience the same delays. One friend had the trout with Carolina rice and rock shrimp. The trout was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The rice was creamy and had buttery and lemony taste to it. Overall a really lovely dish. I had the quail with charred bok choy and a benne seed base. This was the star of dinner. The quail was lightly seasoned but the benne base had tons of flavor and some tang. The bok choy was delish! My friend had the summer vegetable plate - cucumber/apple poppy seed dressing, sweet potatoes with aioli , charred cabbage, kohlrabi and squash chard, rice with some type of cardamom or coriander sauce. We loved the cucumber apple and the cabbage. My friend is a vegetarian and there weren't many options for her other than this. So our biggest recommendation would be to consider a vegetarian dish for the supper items. A stuffed vegetable or a veggie pasta or veggie rice dish or something with beans (a protein) . My friend was left a bit hungry so this would have been great for her AND they could have upsold us on getting the summer vegetable plate for the table or as an appetizer. We did have a really delightful dessert, dark chocolate cremeaux with toasted black sesame. We LOVED it! One thing we appreciated is that upon making the reservation they asked about allergies and then also confirmed them once we were sat. We had folks with gluten and lactose intolerances and dishes were adjusted accordingly as could be. We really enjoyed the dinner but it was dampened by how long it took to get our food. We arrived about 5:50pm (earlier than our resi) and were only the 2nd table sat in the patio. However, we were the last served after the patio was full. We ordered around 6:05pm and didn't receive our food until 7:20pm at least. While our server Stacy was very nice and knowledgeable, she didn't once update us on the delay on our dinner nor acknowledge that it was significantly delayed at any time. Several tables around us had both appetizers and meal before we received ours. Overall we would recommend the restaurant but would just recommend more mindfulness when you have one server with all inside tables and a single outside table. We think this is why she forgot about us often.
I had not been to Husk for several years simply because there are so many great new restaurants to try. But I was treated to a birthday dinner there Sunday night. Ben Norton has been named executive chef since the last time I was there and he is filling that role beautifully. Not pictured is our appetizer - meatballs made with alligator and they were really yummy - perfectly seasoned, moist, with a great dipping sauce. I had the trout, perfectly prepared with an outstanding sauce, served on a bed of Creamy cheese grits. We shared the ample veggie platter as a side. Particular shout out to the cabbage dish! For dessert, rice pudding cooked in Earl Grey tea with lemon curd and crunchy honey comb on top. Bonus points for the birthday menu and candle in its own little dish since the dessert was shared.
Had a great experience here! We sat at the bar on a Thursday evening and had such attentive service while the staff also explained to us in great detail all about the dishes we were interested in. The food was so flavorful and although some of it looks like it'd be heavy, it had such a light and smooth feeling even after eating all night. We'll definitely be back again!
What a great brunch spot (and I'm sure dinner too)! FOOD: spot on. Every bite is crafted and incredible. A perfectly filling and satisfying meal. I ordered the egg breakfast (I forget its official name but it came with eggs, bacon, hash brown, and biscuit). Every item was just so good. Their brewed iced tea was also great. SERVICE: very communicative and professional. They were even willing to help make a menu item dairy free for dietary reasons. AMBIANCE: since there aren't so many tables, the feel is very exclusive. The large beautiful chandeliers, garden out the window, and large ceiling and wall windows create an open yet elegant vibe. PARKING: There appears to be street parking nearby but we walked there.
What a great spot to try local cuisine. They use all local ingredients and you can tell it's of good quality. It's located in a historic home and it is decorated perfectly. The staff was very accommodating, especially with my allergies. They made sure that I could eat everything and they made accommodations if not. The menu is very eclectic but absolutely delicious. It was not released to see, but we were able to see previous days to get an idea. You definitely have to be open to trying new things going to this spot. The food was spectacular. I think my favorite part was the dessert, the peanut butter blondie. It was the most perfect sweet ending. I tried the trout because I kept seeing it on menus, and it was very good, not super fishy. You will definitely pay a premium price to come here. The food averages around $30 a plate. The drinks are also fairly expensive. It's a great experience with local cuisine and local flavors. I'd highly recommend it.
